Using winnowing with conflagration
I’ve got this dilemma, perhaps it’s been answered here but still here it is, I began faming down sorrow in b/p groups and first I was asked whether I had conflagration, its not a problem of getting it but later on in deferent groups I was told it messes up winnowing because conflagration converts physical dmg to fire dmg. So here is my question does it actually converts to elemental (fire dmg) and completely cancels out winnowing or is it just sort of light up arrows makes them fiery and still does piercing (physical) dmg

It doesn't actually change the damage, but As far to my knowledge, they don't stack.

Actually, Retribution is completely and totally incorrect with regards to damage changing. As for stacking, well since neither of the conflagration spirits add any damage to the party, there is no stacking involved
Conflagration (factions spirit) does the following
Create a level 1..8 Spirit. For non-Spirit creatures within its range, all arrows that hit strike for fire damage. This spirit dies after 30..126 seconds.
Greater Conflagration (prophecies elite spirit) does the following
Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, all physical damage is fire damage instead. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds.
Conflagration makes arrow damage fire damage, not physical
Greater Conflagration makes ALL physical damage fire damage
Winnowing requires that the damage be PHYSICAL
Create a level 1...8 Spirit. For creatures within its range, creatures take an additional 4 damage whenever they take physical damage. This Spirit dies after 30...126 seconds.
Both conflagration spirits will cause your rangers damage (if it's not already elemental) to become fire/elemental and winnowing will NOT trigger. Greater Conflagration just extends this conversion to all physical damage done by everyone in it's range, not just arrows.

Only FW is important, rest are not too useful. Save your slot for other skills.
Two FWs (in case spirit got killed or someone forget to putup spirit) >> One FW and WW/CF

are the dwarves more susceptible to fire? if so it may be useful instead of winnowing...

Im pretty sure That the 2 spirits also RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO up the orders, from the orders necro.. Becouse orders only work on Pysical dmg i belive.. So unless you want him to be unless, then dont take spirits that convert dmg into fire dmg.. (Its ofc okay if you dont have a orders necro >_>)

To readdress the ops confusion (since it is SF specific).
You can lay down both Winnow and Conflag spirits and still reap the benefits of both in this farming situation
Rangers Benefit from Conflag
Minnions/Pets Benefit from Winnow
Ice Golems are especially susceptible to Fire damge.
And of course review Dragon's post if you wish to consider the use of these spirits for other situations.
@meteo_x speaking of wasting slots, 2 fw's is overkill. If you put fw down in a spot that gets targeted by the enemy, it isn't worth the loss of firepower to have another Ranger take the time to replant the spirit. Not to mention that that spirit will most likely be targeted as well.
Any farming group worth a lick of salt can farm down there (SF) without the spirits, they are just gravy.
LOL the real challenge for groups is figuring out the basics:
-target binders/gnashers first
-target monk types before others (exception noted above)
-use interrupt on Giant Herders
-target Bosses last
-if you are taking large amounts of dmg kite
-rez pets
-place spirits
-commonsense as always

Sorry, I don't agree with this. Most time I went in with 4-men group (2R, 1MM, 1Mo). Speed of arrows is very important.
Of couse an exp farmer will know the best location to put up fw, then 1 fw is well enough.
